Memorial Green Tournament Brings Community Together in Support of The Glebe Benevolent Fund

Sometimes, the greatest victories aren’t measured by scorecards.
On a beautiful day filled with laughter, friendly competition, and community spirit, residents, businesses, and friends gathered for the 2026 Memorial Green Short Golf Game Tournament. While nine teams competed through 18 holes of putting and a spirited cornhole tournament, the true success of the day was the shared commitment to caring for neighbors in need.
Together, participants and supporters raised nearly $4,300 for The Glebe Benevolent Fund, helping ensure residents facing financial challenges can continue living in the community they love.
The tournament welcomed players of all skill levels and created opportunities for residents and supporters to connect, build relationships, and learn more about the mission of the Virginia Baptist Homes Foundation. Throughout the day, it was evident that this event was about much more than golf. It was about coming together to support one another and preserving the sense of home that makes The Glebe so special.
Congratulations to our tournament winners:
1st Place: Team 4 – Ikenberry Landscaping
2nd Place: Team 9 – Larry Fischbach, Jerry Steele, Dale Weaver & Jonah Ginter

Why It Matters
Every dollar raised through the tournament benefits The Glebe Benevolent Fund, which provides financial assistance to eligible residents who have exhausted their resources through no fault of their own. These funds help residents remain in the homes, friendships, and community they cherish.
In 2025 alone, the Virginia Baptist Homes Foundation provided $58,000 in benevolent subsidies to residents at The Glebe. Behind that number are real people whose lives have been touched by the compassion and generosity of donors who believe that no resident should have to leave their home because of financial hardship.
The success of the Memorial Green Tournament is a reminder that when a community comes together around a shared purpose, lives are changed. We are profoundly grateful to every person who helped turn a day of fun and fellowship into lasting support for residents in need.
