LifeSpire of Virginia CEO Addresses The Summit Ownership

Dear LifeSpire of Virginia Residents, Families and Team Members,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and LifeSpire of Virginia’s leadership team, I’m writing to share some exciting news. On July 21, we signed an agreement to assume ownership of The Summit, a life plan community in Lynchburg, Va. Centra Health’s decision to sell The Summit created an opportunity for LifeSpire of Virginia to welcome a new community to the family and expand our mission of empowering individuals with choices in purposeful living.

LifeSpire of Virginia will assume ownership and management of The Summit’s independent living and assisted living neighborhoods following the anticipated closing this fall. LifeSpire of Virginia will also own an undeveloped 75-acre parcel of land surrounding the community’s lake which will allow for future growth. The Summit’s nursing home is being acquired by Cascade Capital and will be operated by Hill Valley Healthcare. LifeSpire of Virginia entered into an agreement with Hill Valley Healthcare to provide The Summit’s residents guaranteed access to skilled nursing care. Centra will continue to own and operate The Summit until closing.

The addition of The Summit to the LifeSpire of Virginia family reflects one of our strategic goals to increase scale through smart growth and create efficiencies as the organization strives to deliver the best care for all LifeSpire of Virginia residents. LifeSpire of Virginia’s Board has directed the organization to sustainably grow and diversify business lines to expand our mission. LifeSpire of Virginia and its family of communities are financially sound and operating independently. The Summit will also operate independently.

The Lynchburg region has a strong Christian heritage and The Summit’s faith-based roots are well aligned with LifeSpire of Virginia’s history of serving seniors since 1945. LifeSpire of Virginia’s leadership is looking forward to engaging with the Lynchburg community and The Summit’s residents.

Over the next few months, the LifeSpire of Virginia leadership team will be focused on preparations to integrate The Summit to ensure there is no interruption of services to residents and team members. We look forward to learning from The Summit leadership team as well as sharing our management expertise and best practices.

If you have any questions regarding this exciting time in LifeSpire of Virginia’s history, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Regards,

Jonathan R. Cook
